ONE: Ascent to Power Face-Off



The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), announced today that the mixed martial artists competing at ONE: ASCENT TO POWER are on track with their weights and are expected to be ready for all the action which takes place tomorrow evening, 6 May, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

Main event combatants Angela Lee and Mei Yamaguchi are set and ready to compete in a five round battle for the inaugural ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship.

In the co-main event, Roger Gracie of the world-renowned Gracie fighting family will take on undefeated Polish fighter Michal Pasternak for the right to bear the inaugural ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship.

Angela Lee stated: “The stage is set for the biggest female MMA bout in the history of MMA in Asia. This is an incredible opportunity for me to become the youngest MMA champion in history, the first-ever ONE women’s world champion, and to be able to represent Singapore as its first female MMA world champion. The stakes are high, but I’m ready to show the world I have what it takes to step into the spotlight and claim the belt and everything that comes with it.”

Mei Yamaguchi stated: “I’m going into that cage and I’m going to do what I do best, and that’s fight. Singapore is a beautiful country, and I’m happy to be a part of this historic event. I will do my best to win this fight for the people of Japan, for my family, and everyone who has supported me. I know Angela is the favorite, but I’m ready to give her a good fight. The best will come out on top.”

Roger Gracie stated: “If I win this fight, I will wear ONE Championship gold around my waist and represent Asia to the best of my abilities as champion. I am proud to be a part of this amazing organization and to become ONE Light Heavyweight Champion will be one of my best achievements. I don’t want to overlook my opponent, he is just as prepared as I am, but I am excited at the possibilities. Coming from Brazil and now representing Asia for a great company like ONE is an amazing feeling.”

Michal Pasternak stated: “I am excited to compete against Roger, one of the best in the world at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am thankful for ONE Championship for giving me a shot at the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship. This is an amazing opportunity for me and I will not let it go to waste. Win or lose, you can expect an exciting battle inside the ONE Championship cage.”

Note: Fighters will weigh-in one final time three (3) hours before the event tomorrow night.
