Improved Geje Eustaquio ready to rock Singapore

Even though Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio is coming off a disappointing setback and facing a familiar foe as he makes his return to the ONE Championship cage, the celebrated Filipino martial artist remains optimistic that he will have his hand raised in triumph. Eustaquio faces fierce Thai rival Anatpong “Mak” Bunrad on the undercard of ONE: DYNASTY OF HEROES, which takes place at the 12,000-seater Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on Friday, 26 May. The 28-year-old Baguio City native first crossed paths with Bunrad in April 2015 at ONE: VALOR OF CHAMPIONS, where the latter took a razor-thin split decision victory. Although he is fresh from a first-round submission loss to Finnish submission specialist Toni Tauru this past December, Eustaquio has no doubt that he could settle the score following a controversial split decision in favor of Bunrad when they first met two years ago. “My first fight against him served as a big lesson. It’s my duty to le...

Toni Tauru eager to capture second straight win in ONE Championship

Toni “Dynamite” Tauru is determined to keep his winning momentum going inside the ONE Championship cage as the Finnish fighters aims to claim his second consecutive victory under the umbrella of Asia’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. The 32-year-old native of Utti, Finland is set to square off with Filipino standout Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon in the co-headliner of ONE: KINGS OF DESTINY, which takes place at the 20,000-seater SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on 21 April . After falling short in his first two assignments as a ONE Championship athlete, Tauru broke into the promotion’s winning territory for the first time this past December by submitting Belingon’s teammate Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio with a rear-naked choke in the opening salvo. Tauru wasted no time in the stand-up trade with the Team Lakay representative, shooting immediately for a single-leg takedown and pacifying Eustaquio on the canvas. From there, Tauru used his si...

Honorio Banario Says Renewed Confidence Is Biggest Difference

Former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario dropped five straight losses following his title-clinching performance over compatriot Eric Kelly in 2013, but has recently turned a new leaf, impressively winning three straight over top flight opponents. A renewed wave of confidence he says is what made a world of difference. On Friday, 21 April , Banario (11-6) will return to action against tough and durable Australian foe “Ruthless” Rob Lisita (14-9) in a three-round lightweight bout that is being considered an early candidate for Fight of the Night honors. His belief in himself, Banario explains, is at an all-time high. “My recent wins have given me my confidence back. I’m happy that I’m now able to show the positive outcome of my hard work. Those losses didn’t put me down, they gave me the strength to push forward,” said Banario. “It changed my outlook on life, my outlook on this sport.” By the time Banario had dropped his fifth straight con...

Kevin Belingon has a business to settle with Finnish standout Toni Tauru

Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon is a man on a mission as the Filipino homegrown talent seeks to avenge the loss of teammate Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio to Finnish standout Toni “Dynamite” Tauru. Eustaquio and Tauru crossed paths at ONE: AGE OF DOMINATION last December, with the latter easily earning his first victory inside the ONE Championship cage at the expense of the Team Lakay striking specialist. Tauru wasted no time in the stand-up department with his Filipino foe, shooting immediately for a single-leg takedown and driving Eustaquio to the mat. From there, he utilized his size and strength advantage to power through a rear-naked choke to notch the win in the first round. Belingon will have the chance to get his hands on Tauru as he is booked to lock horns with the Finnish fighter on the undercard of ONE: KINGS OF DESTINY, which takes place at the 20,000-seater SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on 21 April . “It’s not personal to me. Winning and ...
