Jr. NBA All-Star (2011) Thirdy Ravena engages the National Training Camp participants of the Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska on their first training day with NBA player Willie Cauley-Stein of the Sacramento Kings. The league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls that teaches fundamental skills and the core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect, is now in the process of selecting the newest All-Stars of Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska. WNBA Hall of Famer and 3-time MVP Sheryl Swoopes is also in Manila for the Jr. NBA Philippines program. The top eight boys and eight girls who will follow the footsteps of previous All-Stars like Kobe Paras, Ricci Rivero, Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, Kib Montalbo, Kai Sotto and Aljon Mariano, will be announced today (Sunday, May 20) at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. *This is Press Release

Jr. NBA coaches led by Coach Carlos Barroca were assisted by 2016 Jr. NBA All-Star and Alaska Ambassador Julian Alfonso Jugo who facilitated drills at various skills stations of the Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camp.   More than 1,100 young ballers aged 10-14 from the North Luzon region travelled to Benguet State University to showcase their skills and secure a slot in the National Training Camp of Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska from May 18-20.    Jugo shared his valuable experience with the Jr. NBA aspirants, inspiring the campers to excel on and off the court. The fourth and final Regional Selection Camp this year will be staged April 21-22 at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, Metro Manila.

After a gruelling 14-hour travel by plane and by land, from Davao del Norte to Ilocos Sur, Davao Aguilas FC didn’t allow fatigue to get in the way, and simply replicated their success down South last weekend, making their second straight win for the first season of the Philippines Football League (PFL).  With their first win taking place only last Sunday at their own pitch, also against the same team, last placer, Ilocos United FC. Davao Aguilas FC scored 4 goals while the home team Ilocos United scored 2, with Harrison Sawyer doing a hat trick, with goals during the 8th, 44th and 57th minute of the intense match.  Team Captain Phil Younghusband on the other hand, scored the 4th goal on the 90th minute of the match. Head Coach Marlon Maro announced proudly, “Today we have a team.  Today we are Davao Aguilas.” This second win gives Davao Aguilas FC a total of 14 points, while Ilocos United FC still has a total of 7 points. Fans can expect another packed match on September 9, as Davao Aguilas FC plunges back into action as they go up against Global Cebu FC, after their month-long international break. This, after Davao Aguilas FC players saw action both for the SEA Games and the recent Azkals match vs. Yemen.  Seven of the U22-Aguilas players took part in the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; while 5 other players were called up to be part of the Azkals recently.  With Reymart Cubon of U22, scoring a goal for the Philippines and both the Younghusband brothers - Phil and James, scoring a goal each in their Azkals match vs. Yemen. Davao Aguilas FC also had tune-up matches in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with various Malaysian clubs in preparation for their PFL return. Eight boys and thirteen girls will represent Metro Manila during the Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska National Training Camp on May 12-14 at the Don Bosco Technical Institute and SM Mall of Asia. Over 1,300 young players ages 10-14 years old participated in the fourth and final Regional Selection Camp of the Jr. NBA program held this weekend at Don Bosco Makati. The 1,333 campers --1,208 boys and 125 girls -- came from schools in Antipolo, Mandaluyong, Manila, Makati, Batangas, Palawan, Mindoro and Iloilo. The fourth and last regional selection camp for Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska will be held at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati on Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2, 2017 starting at 9 a.m. This is the last chance for young ballers in the NCR and other provinces to participate in the National Basketball Association’s youth development program that has been touring different key cities and towns since January this year. Boys and girls aged 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the learn-and-achieve camp that will test their physical and basketball smarts through NBA style skills tests and basketball drills. They will also learn the STAR values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect.
