Narantungalag Jadambaa Stops Eric Kelly with Emphatic Knockout

The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), returned to China for another electrifying evening of world-class mixed martial arts action. The packed Hefei Olympic Sports Center played host to another edition of ONE: DYNASTY OF CHAMPIONS, as top local and international ONE athletes took to the cage to showcase their skills. In the main event, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag Jadambaa delivered a stunning knockout victory over top Filipino featherweight Eric Kelly.

In the main event of ONE: DYNASTY OF CHAMPIONS (HEFEI), former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag Jadambaa needed less than a minute to dispatch top Filipino featherweight contender Eric “The Natural” Kelly, winning via emphatic knockout in a much-awaited contest between elite ONE Championship athletes. Despite Kelly’s willingness to exchange strikes, Jadambaa showcased his monstrous knockout power with an explosive right hand and a thunderous follow-up shot that prompted the referee to call off the fight in less than a minute.

In the Hefei Flyweight Tournament Final Bout, Bu Huo You Ga earned a unanimous decision after two rounds to be crowned tournament champion. After a careful start from both fighters, things began to open up when Li landed two huge high kicks. Bu countered with a huge takedown to get Li to the mat, with the two fighters going on to exchange strikes and positions. The second round saw much of the same back-and-forth action, with Bu Huo You Ga doing just enough to edge Li in a unanimous decision victory.

Rising Chinese MMA star Li Kai Wen went toe-to-toe with Malaysian prospect Keanu Subba for three gruelling rounds, and was able to showcase his striking prowess, controlling the bout with tremendous punching power that had Subba in serious trouble several times. Li’s aggression and fearlessness was a factor throughout the bout, offsetting Subba’s more calculated and methodical approach. All three judges scored in favor of Li in a unanimous decision victory after three rounds.

In a highly-anticipated middleweight contest, the “Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang left the ONE Championship cage with his third straight victory in the promotion, besting previously-unbeaten Russian Aleksei Butorin to win by Arm Triangle Choke submission in round two. Butorin gave a spirited performance, landing a series of heavy blows on many occasions, but Aung was able to weather the storm and crank out the submission two minutes into the second round.

Chinese bantamweight hopeful Wu Ze continued his impressive rise through the ONE Championship ranks with a technical knockout victory over countryman Zheng Xiao Liang. It was Zheng who initially had the upper hand, out-grappling Wu during exchanges, even locking in an armbar that had Wu in trouble. However, Wu brought the crowd to its feet recovering with a minute remaining in the first round after landing a hard standing elbow that left Zheng unable to continue.

Lightweight standout Ariel “Tarzan” Sexton and cage veteran Roger “El Matador” Huerta put together a phenomenal show for fans in attendance. In a three-round bout, Sexton dominated with a thorough performance, beating Huerta to the punch in striking exchanges as well as getting the better of Huerta on the ground. In the third round, Huerta verbally tapped out after being unable to recover from  Sexton’s powerful combinations.

Malaysia’s fighting belle, Ann “Athena” Osman, successfully returned to the ONE Championship cage with a come-from-behind victory over Egyptian Haiat Farag in a women’s flyweight contest. Although Farag put in some good work with her striking and takedowns to dominate Osman over the course of the bout, the Malaysian was able to turn things around with a crafty armbar for a stunning comeback victory.

In the Hefei Flyweight Tournament Alternate Bout, Tang Ren Xing proved how effective his grappling is offensively, defeating opponent Zhang You Liang by Triangle Armbar submission in the first round. After repeatedly trying to bait Zhang into engaging him on the ground and absorbing some heavy punishment in the process, Tang was able to finally latch on to the highlight-reel submission, drawing cheers from the crowd.

23-year-old Chinese flyweight prospect Bu Huo You Ga made a successful return to the ONE Championship cage, winning impressively by Guillotine Choke submission over countryman Wan Jian Ping to advance to the Hefei Flyweight Tournament Final. This marks the second victory for Bu Huo You Ga in ONE Championship since making his professional MMA debut last January.

Flyweights Li Hao Jie and Maimai Tituo Heti kicked off ONE: DYNASTY OF CHAMPIONS (HEFEI) with a great display of local mixed martial arts talent. After some solid back-and-forth action in the two-round Hefei Flyweight Tournament Semi-Final bout, Li slightly edged out his opponent in the striking department to come away with a unanimous decision victory.
