Ahead of Friday’s star-studded card, ONE Championship forms partnership with SGX

With the entire international martial arts community agog over ONE Championship’s star-studded card in Singapore on Friday, 18 May, the promotion struck a monumental deal ahead of its much-awaited live event by announcing its partnership with Singapore Exchange (SGX).
The joint venture between ONE Championship and SGX was formally announced at a press conference, which happened on Wednesday, 16 May at the SGX Centre in Singapore.
SGX welcomed ONE Championship as its official fitness partner for its “Bull Charge” charity initiative this 2018.
“We are delighted to welcome ONE Championship on this meaningful journey. Through martial arts, they have captured the imagination of millions and inspired young people to become champions in their own way,” said Chew Sutat, who is the SGX Bull Charge Chairman and Head of Equities & Fixed Income.
SGX Bull Charge, a flagship corporate charity initiative by the investment holding enterprise, was launched in 2004 to bring together the country’s financial community and listed companies to support the needs of underprivileged children and families, persons with disabilities as well as the elderly.
Since its inception, SGX Bull Charge has raised more than $30 million for over 50 charities.
“We are also excited about the mentoring programme, which will offer youths from our beneficiaries a unique opportunity to channel their energy positively and pick up life values such as integrity, discipline and courage,” Sutat stated.
ONE Championship superstars Christian Lee and Amir Khan conducted an introductory martial arts workshop on the sidelines of the partnership launch with youths who were selected from SGX Bull Charge beneficiaries.

“ONE Championship takes pride and joy in working with today’s youth, and we have executed many initiatives towards this cause. This latest collaboration with SGX Bull Charge will allow ONE to further expand on our efforts to bring martial arts closer to the fans, by working with the youth,” said Hua Fung Teh, who currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of ONE Championship.
ONE Championship, Asia’s largest global sports media property, is a celebration of Asia’s greatest cultural treasure, martial arts.
The organization engages millions of people across Asia by building local martial arts superheroes, telling their inspirational stories of perseverance and triumph through martial arts, which has been home in Asia for the past 5,000 years.
“The mentoring programme can motivate low-income or troubled youth and keep them off the streets, providing them an avenue towards learning through martial arts. Even more, the youth have a unique opportunity to pick up martial arts and learn all of its amazing lessons and values. This is a tremendous opportunity for all of us to give back to the community and to have fun through sports at the same time,” Teh stressed.
Lee is slated to vie for the coveted ONE Featherweight World Championship against two-division titleholder Martin Nguyen in a rematch at ONE: UNSTOPPABLE DREAMS, which takes at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Meanwhile, Khan squares off with Korean newcomer Sung Jong Lee on the undercard of ONE: UNSTOPPABLE DREAMS.
ONE: UNSTOPPABLE DREAMS is headlined by a women’s atomweight world title rematch between longtime division queen Angela Lee and Mei Yamaguchi.
